Book Description

Derrida's theory of deconstruction has been pictured as an attack against philosophy and as a celebration of God's death. It has also been criticised as a displaced negative theology, a quest for deep truth beyond the categories of being and non-being. Here it is argued that neither view is correct. Deconstruction seeks a vantage point from which metaphysics is seen to be structured by alerity rather than identity.
